PERRY COUNTY, Ala. — The Perry County community is grieving the untimely death of 26-year-old Erika Latavia Latham of Reform, who was fatally shot early Sunday morning. Her passing has left family, friends, and neighbors devastated. Authorities report that around 1 a.m., Uniontown police responded to the 200 block of Water Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Latham deceased at the scene. The sudden loss has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the ongoing concerns over gun violence.
The investigation is being led jointly by the State Bureau of Investigation, Uniontown police, and the Perry County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have identified 33-year-old Deandre Brandell Langhorne of Uniontown as the suspect. Langhorne has been charged with manslaughter and remains in custody at the Perry County Jail. No motive has been disclosed at this time.
Uniontown Police Chief Mike Kiser expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends affected by this senseless act.
